Krys Oconnor was born with a natural love and compassion for horses. She hails from four generations of horse handlers and enthusiasts. Her innate ability to relate with horses has risen to exemplary heights over three decades of bonding, working with, and learning from thoroughbreds. Her journey began with her first riding lesson at age six. Her commitment to horse excellence now spans three decades and is evidenced by her consistent ability to render obedience from the most obstinate behaviors, as well as transition negative behaviors into positive healthy ones. Now, she brings all her care, talents and skills to bear on her own 21.9-acre horse farm. It is here, at Fairview Farms JJC Ltd, that she offers academic, management and therapeutic instruction. It is on this revitalized and expanding facility that she is able to provide quality, full boarding and facility rentals.
Krystine has a fully rounded background beginning with dressage riding, in which she successfully attained through fourth level. She then developed a solid foundation in equitation, moving on to successfully compete in Hunter jumpers and combined training. Krys utilizes her body of knowledge and skills garnered in these disciplines to serve others in their equestrian pursuits. In fact, she currently serves as the District commissioner of the Worcestershire pony club, a charter of the United States Pony Club Inc. The United States Pony Clubs develop character, leadership, confidence and a sense of community in youth through programs that teach care of horses and ponies, riding, and mounted sports. Working with track horses and top trainers most of her life, Krystine has developed a reputation for retraining thoroughbreds to produce quality eventers, hunters, and dressage performers. Her ability to engage the horses, assess their obstacles and address their needs meshes with the same abilities to work with people. She provides an unbiased opinion of all factors, focusing on the best suited training and or services conducive to an optimal outcome.
Krystine is a graduate of Middlesex Community College where she completed courses in business management, business accounting, marketing strategies, and Business Administration, for which she made the Dean's List numerous times. She rode at the Revere Saugus Riding Academy where her training included dressage, vaulting, hunter equitation, eventing, and sidesaddle. While attending the academy she held a job as barn helper where she acquired hands-on knowledge and experience in instruction, horse management, barn management, horse driving, training, and foaling.
As the District Commissioner of the Worcestershire Pony Club, with pride, she upholds the ideals of the United States Pony Club "Standards of Proficiency". She, along with other board members, coordinates lessons, an annual horse show, rallies and philanthropic events; provides member training and handles the board meeting agendas.
